Spotlight on Project Create

Project Create is a community arts organization that provides arts experiences, free of charge, to children living in poverty in Washington, DC. Working with local professional artists, Project Create offers classes that engage and empower students, and expand their horizons.
Project Create offers classes in the visual, literary, and performing arts, based on the needs and interests of our students and community partner organizations. All classes are a minimum of twelve weeks long, and meet for one to two hours each week. Offerings include, but are not limited to, West African dance and drumming, fashion and costume design, theater, photography, painting, book- and paper-arts, creative writing, and mixed-media arts.
In 2007, Project Create received a $7,000 grant to support its art education program for children living in homeless shelters.
