Requirements and Final Reports

Geographic requirements:

Williams S. Abell Foundation accepts applications from organizations serving clients in Washington, D.C. and/or the Maryland counties of: Montgomery, Prince George's, Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary's; 

Margaret Abell Powell Fund accepts applications from organizations in Washington, D.C. and/or the Maryland counties: Montgomery, Prince George's, Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary's; and/or in the City of Alexandria and Arlington County in Northern Virginia.

Please Note: No applications for MAPF funding will be accepted in 2009.

Letter of intent requirements 

Before submitting a letter of intent, you must complete our eligiblity review: Am I Eligible?  If eligible, you will be invited to submit a letter of intent by email or with our online application tool. With your letter of intent, be prepared to submit:  

Grant application requirements 

When submitting a grant application by mail, email or online, be prepared to include or attach the following required documents:

1. Cover letter: One page maximum.

2. Grant proposal: Two pages maximum with amount requested, purpose, implementation plan, mission. Use our grant application checklist

3. Financial information for grant period, including:

  • Budget for grant amount
  • Budget for program or project
  • Budget for overall organization

4. Historical financial information, including:

  • Itemization of last quarter revenue and expenses
  • Recent financial statements, audited preferred; not required
  • Two most recent 990s

5. Board of Directors List

 

Post Grant, Final Report Requirements:

All grantees must complete and submit to the Foundation a final report 14 months after a grant check is received. We recommend that applicants review final report requirements before applying for a grant so they are fully aware of what information is expected. Review our final report format
