Support for the Hungry
The William S. Abell Foundation supports organizations that provide services for the hungry as part of our core mission with grants that are awarded quarterly that typically do not exceed $25,000 per grantee.
DEADLINES:
- Letters of Intent Due: December 30th, April 2nd, July 2nd, October 1st.
- Proposal Due: January 13th, April 16th, July 16th, October 15th.
Before submitting a letter of intent or grant application, please review the following guidelines and then go to: Am I Eligible?
Grant requests must be from nonprofits operating in:
- The District of Columbia;
- Montgomery, Prince George’s, Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland.
The Foundation will consider applications for:
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner programs;
- Food pantries;
- Transportation of meals to clients;
- Other services that help feed the hungry.
The Foundation will not consider applications for:
- Consecutive year grants;
- Organizations that are not "public charities" as described in IRC S 509(a) (1) or (2).
